Hennepin County winter clothing drive: Donation locations and library hours

HENNEPIN COUNTY — The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is collecting winter clothing and cold-weather supplies for people in need through its annual donation drive, which began October 1, 2026. Donations can be dropped off at five sheriff’s facilities and 28 participating county libraries.

The drive accepts new or gently used coats, hats, mittens, boots and scarves, along with new socks and disposable hand and foot warmers. Used items should be ready to wear; the sheriff’s office asks donors to avoid items needing extensive cleaning or repair.

Donations are distributed through the sheriff’s Community Engagement Team and the homeless outreach center at Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall. Staff may also provide clothing to people leaving jail or court without adequate winter clothing, and to other people they encounter who need help staying warm.
