Minneapolis man arrested in Minnesota, extradited to Chicago in 2025 fatal shooting
CHICAGO, Ill. — A 29-year-old Minneapolis man has been charged with murder in connection with the March 2025 fatal shooting of Kevin Daniels, 42, in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.

The shooting occurred around 11 a.m. March 24, 2025, in the 6600 block of South Sangamon Avenue. Investigators allege Tibbetts approached a vehicle in which Daniels was sitting and opened fire.
Daniels suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported him to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he later died. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Daniels as a resident of Evanston, Illinois.
Authorities said Tibbetts was arrested in Minnesota on Thursday, October 29, 2026, and subsequently extradited to Chicago to face the murder charges. His arrest came more than a year and seven months after the shooting.
The account supplied for publication did not identify a possible motive, explain whether Tibbetts and Daniels knew each other, or provide further details about the Minnesota arrest. Those circumstances should not be inferred from the charges alone.
Tibbetts was scheduled for a detention hearing in Cook County on Friday, October 30. An outcome from that hearing was not available in the information reviewed for this article.
The charges are allegations. Tibbetts is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
