Editorial policy and corrections
Factual reporting
Posts should state known facts clearly, attribute information to its source and distinguish allegations from established findings. Unconfirmed details should be identified as such. We do not treat an arrest, a charge or a warrant as proof of guilt.
Sources and bylines
Bylines identify the publisher or author responsible for a post. Minnesota Now is used as an organizational byline when no individual author is named. Source links and attribution identify the documents, agencies or other reporting behind a story where available.
Public records and missing-person alerts
Custody status, charges, bail, court dates, warrants and missing-person information can change. Check the publication and update dates, and consult the responsible agency for current information. Tips about an active missing-person case should go to the agency listed in the alert.
Requesting a correction
Send the article link, the detail you believe is inaccurate and supporting information through our corrections form. Requests are reviewed by the site editor. When an error is confirmed, the post should be corrected and its update date refreshed. Material corrections should include a note explaining the change.
Advertising and reader support
The site includes advertisements and affiliate links. Purchases through affiliate links may generate a commission. Reader support is voluntary, and public posts remain free to read.
