COSMOS — A 33-year-old Cosmos woman died when her SUV collided with a semi on Highway 7 early Thursday, October 29, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The patrol identified the woman as Brittany Ann Gehrke in an update posted at 1:17 p.m. Thursday. The crash happened at 2:29 a.m. near mile marker 118 in East Lake Lillian Township, Kandiyohi County, west of Cosmos. Gehrke’s 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling west, and the 2022 Freightliner semi was traveling east when they collided. The report lists the pavement as wet. It does not say which vehicle crossed the centerline or establish what caused the collision. The patrol reports that Gehrke was not wearing a seat belt and that alcohol was not suspected. The semi’s driver, a 41-year-old Cottonwood man, and passenger, a 23-year-old Willmar man, were both listed as uninjured and wearing seat belts. FOX 9’s earlier coverage described the semi occupants as having non-life-threatening injuries; the State Patrol’s updated report lists no injuries to either man.
