FBI Offers Up to $50,000 for Fugitive Liban Abdulkadir Sheikh, Who Has Minneapolis Ties

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of Liban Abdulkadir Sheikh, a fugitive accused of killing a man and seriously injuring a woman in Lakewood, Washington, in 2002.
The FBI says Sheikh fled Washington and was later seen in Minneapolis. Its wanted notice does not identify when that sighting occurred or establish that he is currently in Minnesota.
Investigators allege Sheikh forced his way into an apartment at the Meadowbrook Apartments on November 27, 2002, and used a semiautomatic handgun to shoot a man six times in the back of the head, killing him. He also allegedly shot the victim’s girlfriend in the back and leg.
Sheikh faces Washington charges of first-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree burglary. A federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued December 9, 2002.
The FBI lists Sheikh as approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. His aliases include Liban A. Sheikh, Nor Abdulkadir Sheikh, Nor Mohammed, “Blue” and “Ali Jama.” The wanted notice includes a photograph age-progressed to 47 years old; that label does not independently establish his current age.
Investigators list ties or possible travel to Seattle; Minneapolis; Columbus, Ohio; Surrey and Vancouver in British Columbia; Amsterdam; Oslo; London; and Somalia. These locations are investigative leads, not confirmed current whereabouts.
The FBI considers Sheikh armed and dangerous. Do not approach him. Information can be reported to 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324), a local FBI office, or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate. Tips can also be submitted at tips.fbi.gov.
The charges are allegations. Sheikh is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
