EDP445 arrested after documentary statements revive 2021 child-sex case

BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA — Bryant Turhanemmerson Moreland, the former YouTube personality known as EDP445, was arrested in Las Vegas on November 4, 2026, after California prosecutors filed four felony charges connected to an April 2021 online sting. Prosecutors say statements Moreland made in the documentary The Sick Mind of EDP445 prompted investigators to reopen the case. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. FOX report; 23ABC report.
According to 23ABC, the criminal complaint was filed November 2. The four charges are attempting to commit lewd acts upon a child; meeting a minor for lewd purposes; contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense; and distributing or showing pornography to a minor. Authorities connect the charges to an alleged incident on April 17, 2021, involving someone Moreland believed was younger than 14. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police assisted in locating and arresting him. 23ABC.
The original encounter took place in Bakersfield. KGET reported that an online sting participant posed as a 13-year-old girl and arranged a meeting at the Pineridge Apartment Complex in the eastern part of the city. Moreland allegedly arrived expecting to meet the girl but instead encountered the people conducting the sting. The person arranging that meeting was a decoy, a distinction from saying police rescued a child at the meeting location. KGET.
The footage spread online, but criminal charges did not immediately follow. The Kern County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the incident in 2021 and again in 2022. According to the office’s statement reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, prosecutors faced significant obstacles because the reporting parties were not cooperating. That explanation concerns the ability to build a prosecutable case; it should not be described as a court finding that Moreland had been cleared. Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The new development was Moreland’s participation in filmmaker Mike Clum’s documentary, released in August 2026. The film included an interview with Chris Hansen, the journalist associated with To Catch a Predator. KGET reported that Moreland acknowledged in the interview that he had gone to the 2021 meeting intending to meet an underage girl. The documentary therefore supplied statements from Moreland himself in addition to revisiting the original confrontation. KGET.
The district attorney’s office and Kern County Sheriff’s Office reopened the investigation after reviewing the documentary statements. Prosecutors said their subsequent review produced enough evidence to file charges. The announcement does not mean a court has already ruled on the reliability or admissibility of every recording, message or statement discussed in the film. The charges remain allegations. Las Vegas Review-Journal.
USA TODAY’s reporting also describes allegations in the documentary involving a separate teenager who said Moreland sent explicit material and threats. Those documentary allegations should be distinguished from the four announced counts tied to April 17, 2021. The available reporting does not establish that every allegation in the film resulted in an additional criminal charge. This article does not identify that teenager. USA TODAY, via Yahoo.
Moreland originally became known for online commentary about the Philadelphia Eagles. His sports videos and internet following explain the public attention surrounding the case, but the criminal allegations concern his conduct in the 2021 incident and the evidence investigators subsequently assembled. FOX report.
As of November 6, the reporting reviewed said Moreland was expected to be extradited to Kern County to face the California charges. A completed transfer, bail amount, entered plea, defense response and next court date have not been independently verified for this article. No conviction or sentencing outcome is reported.
